SUV with night-vision tech
Omoda Jaecoo has pulled the wraps off its latest vehicle, the Omoda X, and will be offering it in full-electric and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options.
The model with a “futuristic, rugged design” had its global reveal at the recent 2026 Chery Group International Summit.
Omoda Jaecoo says the X combines the everyday practicality of an SUV, the adventurous spirit of an off-road vehicle and the dynamic character of a sports car.
Sitting below the Omoda 9, the Omoda X measures 4650mm long, 1910mm wide and 1720mm tall. It features 19-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres, 200mm of ground clearance and a wading depth of more than 700mm.
Towing capacity is rated up to 1,800kg, the roof has a load capacity of 75kg, there are 39 storage spaces and the inside boasts a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch central touchscreen.
An exclusive X-Mode allows drivers to adjust vehicle settings and performance response to match their preferences, and the two-wheel drive (2WD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) options will be available.
In a first for the Omoda Jaecoo brand, the Omoda X has an infrared thermal imaging night-vision system that helps identify potential hazards up to 90m away.
Roy Munoz, chief commercial officer of Omoda Jaecoo Australia and New Zealand, says: “It’s exciting to see the innovative products coming from our global headquarters, and the reveal of the Omoda X marks another significant step forward for the brand.
“Combining a futuristic, rugged design with groundbreaking technology, including a thermal imaging camera, the Omoda X demonstrates our commitment to challenging conventions and pushing the boundaries of what customers can expect from a modern vehicle.”
The Omoda X has yet to be confirmed for down under, with global launch details still to be announced.
