SUV models get makeover

Mazda’s CX-8 has received a comprehensive styling update and a suite of new technological features.
Exterior changes for the SUV include a block mesh-pattern grille and grille surround, restyled front and rear bumpers, a new headlight and tail-light design and a sleeker rear tailgate.
Other visual upgrades include a series of new-to-Mazda alloy wheel designs and its latest body colour, rhodium white. The Takami’s interior now boasts black nappa leather trim.
Inside the three-row seven-seater SUV, the marque’s 10.25-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system now comes standard as do wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and USB-C ports.
The GSX and the Takami variants are powered with the twin-turbo diesel 2.2-litre Skyactiv-D engine. There is also an even greater reduction in noise, vibration and harshness inside the cabin, equating to a quieter, smoother ride.
David Hodge, Mazda NZ’s managing director, says the updated SUV’s variety of features and redesign will ensure it stays at the top of Kiwi buyers’ wish lists.
“We’ve also extended our scheduled service programme to five years or 100,000km, whichever comes first,” he adds. “This takes the CX-8 to another level. Together with its styling and technology, it will ensure it’s a hit with Kiwi buyers for years to come.”
The new and improved SUV is priced from $61,490 for the GSX and $72,540 for the Takami, including GST and plus on-roads.
