Streamlining rental pick-ups

Avis has launched new technology allowing a contactless pick-up experience, which it says is a first for New Zealand’s rental car industry.

It means customers can bypass the rental counter and head straight to the car they have chosen, unlock it on their phone and drive away.

The straight-to-car pick-up experience is currently only available to Avis Preferred members who use the Avis App. 

Tom Mooney, managing director, Avis Budget Group Pacific, says the technology will help those members get on their journey faster than before. 

“It gives them greater choice and control of their rental experience with the ability to choose their car and unlock it via the Avis App,” he adds.

“We care about our customers and the experience they have with us, and we want to make their journey as streamlined as possible.”

The Avis Preferred straight-to-car pick-up option is available at major airport locations and is due to be extended to 15 Avis sites in the North and South Islands by early September.
