Starting new chapter

Alfa Romeo describes the Tonale as a “new chapter for the global model”, which now offers more colours and trims.

The new model refines the brand’s “renowned excellence – perfect weight balance, first-class driving dynamics, segment-leading technological and engine solutions”.

Its engines have been updated to Euro 6E-bis standard for total output of 130kW for the Ibrida and 201kW with the Ibrida Plug-In. A refined hybrid control processor makes delivery more prompt, linear and continuous.

The line-up of engines is designed to cover differing market demands and a varied customer base. The Tonale Ibrida has a four-cylinder 1.5-litre turbo with variable-geometry turbo combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and front-wheel drive (FWD).

The 1.6-litre diesel is available with six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and FWD. At the top-of-the-range is the Q4 Irbid Plug-In variants, which have electrified all-wheel drive and six-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, the Tonale has a 12.3-inch telescope digital instrument panel and 10.25-inch Alfa Connect infotainment system with customisable multi-tasking interfaces making it easy to manage all in-car functions in a smartphone-like experience.

The marque says the new line-up represents a “clear and comprehensive new strategy” from the new entry-level Tonale version to more distinctive versions, such as the Sprint, Ti and Veloce.

The exterior design is more iconic with sculpted proportions, a wider wheel track, new concave badge, and new 19/20-inch wheels. The passenger compartment has been refreshed with new trim in red leather and two-tone Alcantara in black and white, while eight exterior colours are available.
