Sports cars shine at auctions

A Porsche and a Ferrari were among the top lots sold last month through a trans-Tasman online auction site dedicated to classic, performance and collectible cars.
Collecting Cars says 105 vehicles were sold on its platform in September and achieved a combined sales value of A$7.15 million (about NZ$8.1m), which was 20 per cent higher than August’s total.
Highlights from last month include a 2018 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet, pictured above, fetching A$300,000 and a 1986 Ferrari Testarossa, pictured below, selling for A$183,000.
Other notable cars snapped up in September include a 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda going under the hammer for A$140,500, a 1967 Ford Falcon XR GT making A$155,000 and a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 TRX fetching A$151,480.
The company says heritage and collectible number plates also attracted strong sales during September, including a collection of nine 0-series Australian number plates selling for more than A$300,000.
