Solterra’s debut at marathon

Subaru’s all-electric SUV made its first public outing in this country at the Queenstown Marathon where the brand was the official vehicle supplier.
Entrants competing in the event, half-marathon, and 10km and kids’ runs were led out by a Subaru with another serving as the tail car.
The marque’s first all-electric, all-wheel-drive SUV was there for its much-anticipated public debut on these shores.
“It was an incredible experience seeing the competitors coming in over the finish line, and we enjoyed meeting many when they wandered over to see our cars,” says Daile Stephens, Subaru of NZ’s national marketing manager.
The long-awaited Solterra attracted plenty of attention. Its name comes by combining the Latin for “sun” and “earth”, and it is built on the new, all-electric vehicle architecture e-Subaru global platform.
The company’s brand ambassador couple were on-hand at November 19’s event, with prominent social-media personality Matilda Green running the 10km course and her husband Art Green – one of New Zealand’s leading fitness and wellness figures – acting as chief support crew.
Hannah Wells, Subaru’s professional triathlete ambassador, made an appearance at the marque’s tent where she answered plenty of questions from runners keen to pick her brains about her demanding sport.
