Skoda’s arresting deal

Skoda New Zealand will continue to provide New Zealand Police with frontline vehicles after extending their fleet partnership deal.

The two organisations joined forces in 2020 and the Skoda Superb Prime 1 started replacing the Holden Commodore as the main police patrol vehicle from the following year.

Skoda says police data shows that since the switch fuel consumption and associated carbon dioxide emissions have fallen by about 20 per cent for comparable frontline vehicles.

Alex Brown, Skoda New Zealand general manager, says the company was thrilled to continue working police.

“This partnership goes beyond supplying vehicles – it’s about supporting the people who serve our communities every day,” he adds.

“A key element of this collaboration is the support from our factory partners at Skoda Auto, who work closely with us to build vehicles that meet New Zealand Police’s custom specifications. 

“From operational refinements to vehicle integration and durability enhancements, these vehicles are designed to perform in the most demanding environments.”

The length of the new deal has not been disclosed and Skoda NZ’s dealer and service network will continue supporting the police fleet.
