Skoda NZ prepares to launch BEV
Skoda New Zealand’s first fully electric vehicle (EV), the Enyaq, is set to hit showrooms this year and will be launched with a series of special events at dealerships across the country.
The model will be available in SUV and coupe variants with specifications and pricing to be confirmed next month. Simultaneous launch events will be held on February 25, with pre-production SUVs onsite.
Skoda will then open online pre-sales for customers and offer test-drive and virtual reality experiences for customers.
The Enyaq is one of three new battery electric vehicles (BEVs) being released by Skoda over the next four years. More will follow and by 2030 the company expects EVs to account for 70 per cent of its sales in Europe alone.
Rodney Gillard, Skoda NZ general manager, says the marque is embarking on a “decade of transformation” and that starts in New Zealand with the launch of Enyaq, the introduction of a new brand mark and an updated corporate identity.
“With the launch of Enyaq in 2023, we are aligning Skoda with our customers’ evolving needs and expectations – offering exceptional styling and an enhanced user experience,” he adds.
“The new Enyaq … has all the comfort, space, and high specs our customers have come to expect, coupled with the benefits that come with an electric vehicle.”
Skoda has a global sustainability target of net zero carbon emissions by 2030 and is supporting this with an investment of €5.6 billion (about NZ$9.4b) in e-mobility and a further €700 million in digitalisation over the next five years.
