Sales of group’s zero-emitters soar
BMW Group New Zealand is celebrating registrations of its electrified models increasing by 14.5 per cent in the first quarter of 2023, when compared with the same period last year.
An extra 213 BMW and Mini battery electric vehicles (BEVs) were sold over the three months as the company also expanded its line-up of zero and low-emissions offerings.
The figures make New Zealand the leading BMW Group market in the Asia-Pacific region for the proportion of overall BMW sales that are electrified.
Standout performers over the quarter include BMW’s 330e and X5 xDrive45e PHEV, with registrations climbing 120 per cent and 800 per cent respectively year on year.
The luxury marque’s i4 Gran Coupe BEV has sold 43 units this year, while the first BMW iX1 BEV had notched 11 registrations over the same timeframe.
Also boosting BMW’s portfolio this year has been the i7, pictured, the first fully electric BMW 7 Series.
As for Mini, its Electric Hatch BEV notched 62 sales in the first quarter, an increase of 41 per cent from a year ago.
The New Zealand results come at the same time the BMW Group has seen its global sales of fully electric models rise 83.2 per cent, or 64,647 units, for BMW and Mini.
