Repco bolsters backing for Supercars

Australasia’s premier racing series will be called the Repco Supercars Championship from 2021 as part of a new five-year sponsorship deal.
Repco says the announcement strengthens the partnership between the company and Supercars, and reconfirms its commitment to motorsport on both sides of the Tasman.
The provider of automotive parts and accessories will replace Virgin Australia as the title sponsor from next season.
The deal, announced on September 10, comes just weeks after Repco secured a five-year contract as the naming rights sponsor for the Bathurst 1000 from 2021.
Repco’s involvement with the series has also seen it support DJR Team Penske, whose Kiwi driver Scott McLaughlin won the Supercars Championship in 2018 and 2019. McLaughlin is chasing a three-peat as he currently leads the 2020 series.
Jonathon Maddren, executive general manager Repco (NZ), says the company is excited about the new partnership with Supercars.
“We have a rich history with the sport, and together with the Repco Bathurst 1000, this is our most exhilarating step yet,” he explains. “We can’t wait to work even more closely with Supercars, and with the teams, the drivers, and support crews.”
Jamie Walton, Repco’s executive general manager of merchandise and strategic marketing ANZ, says the company has been building towards the deal for three years.
Sean Seamer, Supercars’ chief executive officer, adds: “We are delighted to have a name that has been associated with Australian motorsport since the 1940s as our naming rights partner for the next five years.
“Repco has invested considerably in our sport and to carry their name as naming rights partner into 233 million homes across more than 90 countries is great news for both parties.”
