Ram reaches milestone

Ram Trucks Australia has remanufactured its 30,000th vehicle at its facility in Melbourne and it was a 1500 Big Horn.
The crew cab marks a significant milestone in the business’ journey, which began in 2014 with the 2500 HD rolling off the production line.
Since then, it has grown exponentially to offer the largest and most comprehensive range of full-size pick-ups across the ditch.
Jeff Barber, general manager, says: “30,000 vehicles is a significant car park in anyone’s books. That it’s come about in a segment that didn’t exist a few years ago is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved.
“From our partners in the US and Melbourne, to our dedicated dealer network in Australia and New Zealand, the Ram Trucks business proves it’s possible to establish an OEM-level automotive manufacturing capability in Australia despite the closure of local automotive brands.”
The Ateco Group is the world’s only authorised manufacturer of right-hand-drive Ram trucks. The relationship with the marque in the US initially began in late 2013.
All of Ram Trucks Australia’s vehicles are international-spec and delivered from the global production line in the US. They are uniquely coded for the Australian and New Zealand markets, and for the local build process that takes place in Melbourne.
It’s the biggest full-size pick-up truck manufacturer across the Tasman. With a significant parts warehouse and inventory, along with 73 dealers in Australia and New Zealand, there are substantial local supply chain benefits of this fast-growing segment.
The company employs more than 400 people and has two dedicated lines in Clayton, Victoria, with a capacity to produce 50 full-size pick-up trucks per day.
