Sales figures ‘positive’

The average number of vehicle sales per dealer increased from 12 to 14 last week amid encouraging signs for the market.

The number of dealers who sold cars also increased over the same period from 785 to 825, according to the latest figures from Apexdealerdata.com.

Matt Grant, chief executive officer, says: “On the current trend we are on for our second-best month in sales this year, which is positive because there hasn’t been the drop off some were expecting.”

June delivered the highest number of registrations so far this year as activity increased ahead of government changes to the clean car discount settings.

The best-performing dealership last week was in Christchurch, which completed 55 sales and had 97 per cent of its stock priced “on market”.

In contrast, a dealer that only completed one sale in the same period had just one per cent of its stock in the same price category.

The AI-driven platform classes vehicles as being under-priced, over-priced, or on market, with the latter the best price to get the fastest return and most value for a car.

The Apexdealerdata.com market report, which appears every Monday on Autofile Online, also shows the average number of days to sell a car remains 65.
