New portal for traders

A new Motor Vehicle Traders Register (MVTR) portal has been launched to replace and upgrade the previous online services platform used by dealers.

The MVTR says the portal updates system technology and improves security, and all registration details have been transferred into the new register.

It notes that anyone who previously had an account to access the online services portal will need to create a new login profile to access the refreshed system.

Other changes include the need to log in with a RealMe account before setting up access.

Once a login profile has been created in the portal, users can use their motor vehicle trader (MVT) key to set up access to their company or individual registration, if you have one.

More information about setting up a login profile and access can be found on the MVTR website.

The MVTR, which is operated by Occupational Regulation, part of the market integrity branch of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, notes some applications or changes will require dealers to provide a completed statutory declaration.

“Under the process for our old portal, you would first need to submit an application to us, after which we would provide you with a statutory declaration to complete for that application,” it explains.

“Our new MVTR portal now generates a statutory declaration as you fill out your application.

“This will allow you to download and complete that statutory declaration, then upload the completed copy and submit this as part of your application.”
