'New identity' for dealer claimed

A car dealer allegedly under investigation for fraud has started a new company, reports Stuff.

Nigel Thompson previously quit his business Nigel Thompson Motor Company before new owners laid complaints with police about fraud; these have been denied by Thompson. 

Police declined to comment on the investigation this week, but Stuff understands the investigation is ongoing and he may now be using the name John William Thompson. 

A Trade Me spokesman says Thompson was recently banned from the site for breaching its terms and conditions in relation to a trade earlier this year.
