New hybrid ‘bridges gap’
KGM is adding the new Torres Hybrid to its New Zealand line-up this year and the model will be available in two variants.
The South Korean marque already offers a Torres petrol model here but says it is introducing the Hybrid after a positive response to a concept vehicle it put on show at this year’s Fieldays.
The Torres Hybrid and Torres Hybrid Ultimate will come with a range of advanced safety, infotainment and comfort features and be backed by a five-year/100,000km warranty, whichever comes first.
Powered by KGM’s dual-tech hybrid system, the vehicles are self-charging and switch between petrol and electric for optimal fuel savings.
The Hybrid, due to arrive towards the end of 2025, also offers three drive modes, regenerative braking and a Blade battery system.
Kym Mellow, general manager of Inchcape New Zealand, the distributor of KGM, says: “The launch of the Torres Hybrid represents a pivotal step in KGM’s journey towards a new energy vehicle future, introducing a strong hybrid that combines rugged SUV styling with advanced self-charging technology.
“By delivering everyday electric driving without the plug-in compromise, the Torres Hybrid bridges the gap between traditional petrol SUVs and full EVs – offering customers an attainable, stylish and practical path into electrified mobility.”
Full specification details and pricing for the Hybrid will be announced at a later date.
