New commercials on the rise
There were 3,527 new commercials registered last month, an increase of 15.3 per cent when compared with 3,058 in October 2024.
Ford’s Ranger, pictured, was the best-selling model in October with 836 units, up 14.7 per cent from the 729 units it sold in the same month a year ago.
Next was the Toyota Hilux on 759 registrations, a year-on-year increase of 16.4 per from 652.
The Mitsubishi Triton was third with 244 sales, followed by Toyota’s Hiace on 224 and the Ford Transit with 124.
The Ranger leads the year-to-date standings with 7,863 registrations and a 23.4 per cent share of the market.
In second place is the Hilux on 7,229 and 21.5 per cent, and the Triton is third on 2,791 units and 8.3 per cent.
The market’s overall year-to-date total stands at 33,652 units.
On the marques’ ladder, Toyota was top in October with 1,020 registrations, up 27.5 per cent from 800 a year ago, and a market share of 28.9 per cent.
Ford was next on 969 units, rising 18.6 per cent from 817 in October 2024, and Mitsubishi was third on 244.
Toyota leads the year-to-date charts with 9,353 registrations and a market share of 27.8 per cent. Ford is second with 8,950 and 26.6 per cent and Mitsubishi completes the top three on 2,792 and 8.3 per cent.
Hiace breaks 1,000 sales
As for used-imported commercials, the 381 units registered in October was down 14 per cent from 443 in the same month last year. This brings the year-to-date total to 3,455.
Toyota’s Hiace was the leading model last month on 102 registrations and a market share of 26.8 per cent.
Nissan’s NV200 was next with 30 registrations and the Hino Dutro took out third spot on 21.
Year to date, the Hiace has completed 1,053 sales for a 30.5 per cent market share, and Nissan’s NV350 is second on 233 units and 6.7 per cent.
Toyota was the top marque last month with 137 registrations, a 38 per cent decrease from 221 a year ago.
Next was Nissan with 82, Hino on 28, Ford with 21 and Mitsubishi on 20.
Year to date, Toyota has 1,439 registrations and a 41.6 per cent market share. Nissan is next on 687 and 19.9 per cent, with Hino third on 229 and 6.6 per cent.
