NZ Automotive Investments (NZAI), the owner of 2 Cheap Cars, has announced it has appointed UHY Haines Norton, Sydney as its new auditors with immediate effect.

The Australian-based company has taken on the auditing role after NZAI’s previous external auditor, Grant Thornton, resigned in August last year.

Michael Stiassny, NZAI’s chairman, says in an announcement to the NZX on February 13 that UHY Haines Norton has extensive experience in auditing ASX-listed companies.

The board of the automotive business also apologised to its shareholders for the delay in “obtaining the services of a reputable auditor”.

“The company first engaged with UHY Haines Norton, Sydney in early November 2022,” explains Stiassny.

“There was a considerable delay in formalising its appointment as UHY Haines Norton, Sydney was waiting for its registration approval from the Financial Markets Authority, which was finally granted late last week.

“This is less than ideal and we apologise to our shareholders for not having foreseen this delay.”
