Multiple recalls for Audi

Audi has issued a trio of recalls because of models being affected by problems relating airbags, suspension and fuel systems.

The marque’s latest alert is for versions of the e-tron GT, pictured, from 2022 after it discovered there may have been a discrepancy in the manufacturing process for the air spring strut.

“This means that it is possible that the circlip may not be securely seated on the support mounting,” the carmaker says.

“If the circlip slips out of the groove, air will escape from the affected air spring strut and the vehicle will drop on one side. This will then be indicated by a warning message in the instrument cluster.

“The resulting restriction in the function of the air spring strut affects the vehicle’s driving dynamics.”

A recall for Audi’s R8 and TT models manufactured between 2015 and 2017 relates to Takata airbags. The company notes it is possible the gas generator housing may be damaged if the driver airbag is deployed.

“This could cause small metal parts to become dislodged from the housing and potentially injure the driver or a passenger,” it warns.

Meanwhile, Q7 and Q8 cars from the 2019-21 model years are being recalled because a component inside the fuel-delivery unit may break while the vehicles are being driven. This is due to pressure pulsations in the low-pressure system.

“The broken pieces may damage the sealing membrane in the pressure regulator. This fault causes the emission control system warning lamp to light up,” says Audi.

“Depending on the extent of the damage, the engine may lose power suddenly, potentially resulting in a breakdown.”

The recalls issued in December advise affected owners to book their vehicles into an authorised Audi dealer for repair.
