Meet the MTA's new CEO
Rob MacGregor joins the Motor Trade Association (MTA) on December 2 when he moves into the position of chief executive officer vacated by Stephen Matthews. He’s taking on the role after being an independent contractor for McConnell Dowell in the construction industry for about four months, and was group business development manager – Australasia of McKechnie Aluminium Solutions Ltd from June 2011 to this February. Before that he was CEO and change manager at Kitchen Things Holdings for about a year and held the same titles with United Travel Ltd from October 2008 to November 2009. MacGregor was CEO of Office Products Depot for five years and four months prior to that and held the same role at Budget Rent a Car from 2003-05. He was manager of Burmah Castrol for four years from 1997 to 2001 and before that was area manager of Firth Industries for 13 years. Recently appointed as a mentor for Business Mentors NZ, his experience of industry sectors includes construction, retail, manufacturing, tourism and franchising. He has experienced on national and international boards, and global management work teams, while his personal interests include music, fishing, golf, travel and skiing. MacGregor describes himself as a “results-driven leader with a proven track record of strategically positioning companies to achieve market and financial growth expectations”.
