Meet MIA’s new CEO

The Motor Industry Association (MIA) has announced that Aimee Wiley will be its next chief executive officer.
Wiley, pictured, will replace David Crawford when he retires in mid-2023 after what the organisation describes as a “lengthy and thorough process”.
Simon Rutherford, president of the MIA, says: “Aimee was selected for her extensive professional experience, formal education and unique skill set. She has a wealth of senior experience spanning the business sector.”
Wiley’s experience in the automotive industry includes working for Ford NZ and Ford Asia-Pacific on product development, through to a role with the government.
She was most recently programme director for low-emissions vehicles, working on the clean car discount and clean car standard for Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency.
“Aimee will bring with her knowledge of and connection with government process, leadership skills and formal qualifications in accountancy and business law,” adds Rutherford.
“She will start with the MIA on April 1 and will be working with David and myself over the following three months to ensure a smooth transition.
“Our members are thrilled Aimee is taking up the role of CEO at a pivotal time for the industry, and would also like to recognise the huge contribution and dedicated service David has provided in his tenure as the MIA’s CEO.”
Impressive CV
Wellington-based Aimee Wiley joins the MIA after previously being low-emissions vehicles programme director at Waka Kotahi from March to November 2022.
She joined the transport agency after working for BRANZ – the Building Research Association of New Zealand – where she was the programme manager for campus redevelopment for almost two years.
She started her career as a marketing finance analyst for Ford NZ in 2005 before becoming finance manager at Carter Holt Harvey in 2007 for three years.
Wiley was then appointed as financial controller at Agriturf Ltd (John Deere). That was for two years and after that she joined Ford Australia in March 2012.
She was the company’s manager of product development for almost six-and-a-half years before becoming group chief financial officer of Habit Group in May 2019.
