Brands appoint new GM

Charlie Cowperthwaite has been appointed the new general manager of Omoda Jaecoo New Zealand and brings more than 20 years of experience in the automotive industry to the role.
He began his career in 2002 as a sales executive for Jerry Clayton BMW in Auckland and spent six years there before working in sales and finance manager positions in the UK.
Cowperthwaite, pictured, returned to New Zealand in 2011 and since then has worked for Continental Cars Volkswagen, Ebbett Toyota and Lexus of Hamilton, and Tristram European.
Prior to taking up his new position this month, he spent three years as national sales manager at Hyundai Motors New Zealand.
His appointment at Omoda Jaecoo NZ follows the August departure of Sheldon Humphries, who was country manager since 2023 and launched the brands in New Zealand.
