Honda New Zealand is holding a three-day grand opening for its Type R Pavilion, which is located at the marque’s dealership in Newmarket, Auckland.

A highlight of the event, from December 2 to 4, will be the live auction of a Honda Civic Type R FK8 on December 3.

The new Civic Type R FL5 is set to be released this summer and will also be on display at the opening of the pavilion, which has been created to celebrate Type R and Honda’s racing history.

The carmaker describes Type R as the pinnacle of its years of research and development in motorsport. It also notes that 2022 marks the 50th anniversary for its Civic, the 30th anniversary for Type R, and the 25th anniversary for the first global Civic Type R.

Nobuya Sonoda, Honda NZ’s managing director, says: “We would like to thank all our Honda fans and invite you to come and celebrate with us.

“We will have our Honda Heritage collection on display which includes a number of Type R models, including the first 1997 Civic Type R.”

He adds that besides the auction at the Honda store, there will also be a number of other promotions available during the event.
