BMW prepares for all-electric sedan

BMW New Zealand has announced its fully-electric i7 xDrive60, based on its seventh-generation 7 Series flagship sedan, is set to arrive on our shores in the fourth quarter of this year.

The model incorporates fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology with dual motors to produce 400kW of power and 745Nm of torque, it has a range of 590-625km and it can achieve 0-100kph in 4.7 seconds.

High-speed DC charging with up to 195kW will also enable drivers to increase the range of the i7 xDrive60 by about 170km in 10 minutes.

The new car’s wheelbase is 5mm longer than the sixth-generation 7 Series and measures 3215mm, while overall vehicle length, width and height has increased by 130mm, 48mm and 51mm, respectively.

Innovative features of the sedan include BMW iDrive with the latest generation of BMW Operating System 8, as well as the BMW Curved Display and the manoeuvre assistant for automated parking and manoeuvring.

Newly-developed seat surfaces in Veganza, a material with leather-like properties, will be available in multiple tones, while there is an executive lounge option for the rear that delivers a reclining seat position and a merino leather/cashmere wool interior trim.

Pricing and specification details will be announced closer to market launch.
