Marque ponders tiny car for Kiwis

Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand (MMNZ) is seeking the opinions of Kiwi consumers on the marque’s ek X EV before deciding whether to bring the tiny car to the local market.
The all-electric kei car, pictured, was launched in Japan last year and measures 3,395mm long, 1,475mm wide and 1,656mm tall.
It has a range of 180km per charge and MMNZ describes the vehicle as having a “wide application for both everyday commuters and those looking to travel a little further afield”.
The company is asking New Zealanders to sign up for a survey< https://www.mmnz.co.nz/fieldays> and share their thoughts on the zero-emissions car, which it has on display at Fieldays, by the end of June.
Carrying a battery with a total power capacity of 20kWh, a single electric motor produces torque of up to 195Nm and offers three drive modes – normal, eco and sport, reports Stuff.
Reece Congdon, MMNZ’s head of marketing and corporate affairs, says: “Kiwis have been quick to adopt PHEV and EV technology and a car like the eK X EV could represent phenomenal value to Kiwi motorists if we get enough demand.”
