Toyota New Zealand is celebrating its progress in the annual Kantar Corporate Reputation Index after climbing three places to fourth in the 2023 edition of the report.

It is the only car brand in the top 50 of the index, which was established in New Zealand in 2015 and ranks companies based on trust, leadership, fairness and responsibility

Air New Zealand is top of the index for the ninth consecutive year, with Mitre 10 in second and Pak’N Save taking the third spot.

Neeraj Lala, Toyota NZ’s chief executive, says the company is proud of its progress in this year’s rankings that were based on a Kantar survey of Kiwis conducted in February and March this year.

“It reflects the efforts of all Toyota staff across the country from our stores to Toyota Financial Services in what has been a challenging period for most industries, including the automotive sector,” adds Lala.

A breakdown of the weighted measures shows Toyota NZ was third in the trust section and fourth for responsibility.

Other notable companies in the 2023 index included AA Insurance being ranked seventh overall, a drop of one place from a year ago, and Mainfreight climbing three spots to number 15.
