Mach-E coming to NZ

Ford New Zealand has announced the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E is set to start arriving for Kiwi customers from early next year.

It is the first production vehicle developed by the marque from scratch to deliver zero-emissions driving and is a part of Ford NZ’s plans to introduce up to seven new electrified vehicles by the end of 2024.

The Mach-E will join a largely electrified line-up here that includes the new E-Transit Cargo, Transit Custom plug-in hybrid (PHEV), Focus and Puma mild hybrids, and the Escape PHEV and full hybrid.

It is also the first SUV member of the Mustang family and carries many of the characteristics found on the famous sports cars.

Simon Rutherford, managing director of Ford NZ, says: “The Mach-E is one of the most exciting vehicles Ford has ever introduced and it will be amazing on New Zealand roads.

“For us, this is a big success already – it’s taken a lot of work behind the scenes but now we’re very excited to be launching this incredible vehicle to our customers.”

Full model specification and pricing details for the Mach-E will be announced closer to its New Zealand market launch.

Ford NZ says its plan to introduce more electric vehicles (EVS) is part of the blue oval’s global investment of US$30 billion (about NZ$43b) in electrification by 2025.

The local company is also working with Singer Electric New Zealand, a supplier of EV charging infrastructure, to roll out charging stations to all its main dealer sites and is in the process of expanding this to all dealership branch locations.
