Luxury sedan hits NZ

Audi New Zealand has announced it will be selling a limited number of its new luxury sedan, the S8 TFSI quattro, to consumers with the model now available to order.

The car has a bi-turbo V8 engine that generates 420kW of power and 800Nm of torque from 2,050 to 4,500rpm.

It also boasts an eight-speed tiptronic quattro gearbox and has mild hybrid technology (MHEV) as a standard feature, which uses the 48-volt main electrical system.

The sedan has predictive active suspension, sport differential and all-wheel steering and will have a maximum retail price of $265,900, excluding on-road costs and optional extras.

Dean Sheed, general manager of Audi NZ, says: “New Zealanders love their performance cars, so we’re pleased to be able to offer a limited run of the high performance S8 in this market.

“With its V8 engine, luxury design and top-of-the-line technology, we know this high-end sedan will satisfy the discerning luxury performance customer.” 

Design changes for the new S8 compared with the previous model, include a wider single-frame grille, and chrome angles decorating its grid increase in size from bottom to top. The rear is dominated by wide chrome clasps, a customisable taillight with digital OLEDs, and a continuous, segmented light strip. 

MMI Navigation plus is standard in the enhanced Audi, while the safety and security system includes ABS braking, electronic differential lock, traction control and electronic stablisation control.
