The GMSV display at Fieldays this week will have a focus on “live big, truck it” with the marque showing off its full portfolio of model-year 2024 Chevrolet Silverados.
It will be the first time that all three new variants will be on display at the same time in New Zealand.
Appearing alongside the full-size pick-ups will be Mad Mike Whiddett, pictured, GMSV’s new brand ambassador, who will be on-hand to meet fans on June 14 and 15 between noon and 3pm.
The marque’s stand will have a winter log-cabin vibe complete with a fireplace to keep guests warm against the cold at Mystery Creek.
“The latest model to launch in the GMSV portfolio, the 2024 Silverado Heavy Duty LTZ, is a significant step up compared with the previous model,” says Jess Bala, managing director of GM Australia and NZ.
“It features a swathe of enhancements with a focus on towing, technology and comfort. It’s instantly recognisable thanks to its redesigned front fascia and grille.
“Climb inside the spacious cabin and the model-year upgrades become more evident. Key highlights include the black leather-appointed interior, power sunroof, power windows and power rear-sliding window, all complemented by a Bose Premium sound system.”
The Heavy Duty features a 6.6-litre Duramax turbodiesel V8 mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It has been uprated to deliver 350kW of power and 1,322Nm of torque.
From a tech-perspective, the plethora of cameras and their respective views – there are 12 in total – around the vehicle help contribute to safer operation.
A technology pack is available as standard on the HD. This consisting of a rear-camera mirror, multi-colour head-up display and 360-degree HD camera.
Adaptive cruise control, available even when using a trailer, is another safety-orientated first for the new model, while extra standard features include automatic rear-locking differential, advanced trailering technology and diesel exhaust brake.
Key upgrades to the LTZ Premium and ZR2 include a new dual-active sport exhaust, as well as a tech pack featured on the ZR2.
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium has a recommended retail price of $146,500. The 1500 ZR2 is priced at $153,000 and the 2500 HD LTZ starts at $175,000. Prices include GST, exclude dealer delivery and on-road costs.
