Limited edition roars into view

Subaru is celebrating 30 years of WRX with a new special edition model, the Todoroki, which will be available in limited numbers in New Zealand this year.

Only 10 units of the WRX Todoroki will reach the Kiwi market in November and they will come in WR Blue and boast a six-speed manual transmission paired with a Boxer engine.

Other features of the performance car include 19-inch alloy wheels with high-performance Bridgestone Potenza S007 tyres, six-piston Brembo front brakes and two-piston Brembo rear brakes.

There are also Recaro front seats, a Subaru Tecnica International (STI) style rear spoiler, specifically tuned steering and suspension, and optimised suspension springs and dampers.

The Japanese kanji symbol for Todoroki means “roar” but also translates to “well-known” or “famous”.

Tim Barns-Lawton, Subaru New Zealand’s general manager, says “With a legacy built on rally performance and thrilling drives, the WRX commands attention wherever it goes.

“Embodying the essence of Todoroki, it continues to resonate with car enthusiasts worldwide.”

He notes customers who secure one of the limited-edition vehicles will also receive a presentation key box and an exclusive STI watch to mark the 30 years of WRX.

The vehicle has a recommended retail price of $64,990, excluding on-road costs.
