Launch offer for PHEV ute

GWM is offering its four-wheel-drive Cannon Alpha PHEV Lux for $67,990 plus on-road costs until June 30.

That’s a discount of $2,000 and the offer includes a complimentary wall charger, while the Ultra variant starts at $74,990 plus on-road costs.

First deliveries are imminent with test drives available from late May through GWM New Zealand’s dealer network. 

The Alpha PHEV has a two-litre turbocharged petrol engine, electric motor and a 37.1kWh traction battery for output statistics of 300kW and 750Nm. Maximum braked towing capacity comes in at 3,500kg.

The ute comes with GWM’s seven-year unlimited kilometre warranty and five years of roadside assistance.

Its EV-only range is about 110km on the NEDC cycle, which is more optimistic than WLTP figures. When the battery reaches a low state of charge, fuel consumption is stated as 7.9l/100km. With the battery fully charged, the combined figure comes in at 1.7l/100km.
