Latest recalls released

The latest round of call-backs released by the NZTA, includes the Toyota 86, pictured. Due to a manufacturing fault, there’s the potential for the engine-valve springs to fracture.
If it fractures, the engine may stall while driving – making it unable to restart and increasing safety risk.
The affected vehicles are from model years 2012-13. However, not all vehicles in those years are involved.
Owners should get in touch with their closest Toyota dealer to see if their vehicles are affected. Alternatively, contact the marque’s customer dialogue centre to discuss.
Citroen C4, model year 2015
Recall online: November 5, 2018.
The hazard: On affected vehicles, an internal component of the power relay of the engine control unit (ECU) could be non-compliant.
What to do: Contact your local authorised Citroen dealer.
Subaru Forester, model years 2013-14
Recall online: November 5, 2018.
The hazard: The clutch hydraulic pipe may contact the vehicle’s wiring harness. If this happens, it may lead to a non-start or engine-stall. This recall requires an inspection only as a first operation. Dependent on the result, other parts may be required to complete this recall.
What to do: Contact a Subaru-authorised dealer to have the work carried out.
Toyota Prius and Prius V, model years 2008-14
Recall online: October 26, 2018.
The hazard: The power management control ECU performs comprehensive control of the hybrid system. If there’s an internal failure, the system should default to fail-safe mode. In limited circumstances, such as hard acceleration after a failure, the system could shut down, resulting in the vehicle losing power while driving increasing the risk of a crash. This recall is an enhancement to an earlier recall in 2014/15.
What to do: Owners will be asked by registered letter to contact their nearest authorised Toyota dealer to arrange a time to have the repairs completed.
Holden Equinox, model years 2018-19
Recall online: October 26, 2018.
The hazard: The marque has identified a condition whereby trapped gas on the rear-brake caliper piston surface may release into the brake-line system. If gas is present in the system, rear-brake performance may be reduced increasing the risk of a crash. A Holden servicing dealer can carry out a thorough inspection of the calipers and, if necessary, bleed the vehicle’s brake system.
What to do: Letters will be sent to owners to book in vehicles. Personal information should be updated at www.holden.co.nz/forms/change-of-address-or-ownership

Subaru Forester, Impreza, Legacy and Outback, model years 2008-14
Recall online: October 8, 2018.
The hazard: Subaru has been advised that vehicles with a Takata front passenger airbag SPI inflator with propellant wafers may have increased potential for moisture intrusion over time. This could make the assembly prone to rupture during airbag deployment, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
What to do: Once Subaru receives parts, it will get in contact with a procedure letter. When a second letter is received confirming parts are in stock, it will provide information about contacting a local authorised Subaru sealer for the recall to be completed.
