Kia opens new warehouse
Kia New Zealand has decided to shift its parts and distribution warehouse into a new facility in east Auckland.
It’s “significantly” larger compared to the one it replaces and is located close to the company’s head office in Highbrook, East Tamaki.
Todd McDonald, managing director, says: “Kia NZ’s increased ability to carry more stock lines will reduce wait times, and enhance customer experience and satisfaction.
“The new warehouse will make parts supply quicker and easier, ensuring faster dispatch of Kia genuine parts to our dealers and customers around the country.”
The old warehouse offered 1,500 square metres of space, while the new distribution centre’s footprint is four times larger at 6,000sq m.
“The new ‘shed’ also has twice the stud height giving us eight times the storage capacity,” adds McDonald.
“The increased size enables us to have a far greater range of parts available, as well as greater inventory volume.”
Another key development associated with the facility is the ability to manage as many as six containers at once.
“With the opening of the new warehouse, we’re now well set up to keep pace with Kia’s rapid growth well into the next decade and beyond.”
The distribution centre stores parts and accessories for Kia models right across its internal combustion engine, hybrid and plug-in hybrid range, its fully electric models including the EV5, EV6 and EV9, and the recently announced Tasman ute.
