4 Media is a small, independent publisher of trade magazines, including Autofile, a monthly title for the automotive industry. Our readers are busy professionals who want accurate, useful, well-written coverage delivered in print, online and by email.
The role
You will write mostly for our website and electronic direct mails, and support the editors of the magazines we publish. The role is about 25 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility around when you work. You'll work with the editorial team to plan content, meet deadlines and keep our standards high.
What you'll do
Write news stories, features and industry updates for our website
Write and schedule eDMs to our subscriber lists
Support the magazine editors with research, interviews, articles, drafting, proofreading and fact-checking
Speak with businesses and sources across the industry, and attend events when needed
Share content on social media, and keep our sites fresh and up to date
Deliver copy to deadline and respond well to editorial feedback
What you'll bring
Journalism experience or qualification, or a strong portfolio of published writing
Excellent business writing skills: clear, concise, professional copy for a trade audience, with sharp attention to accuracy and detail
Curiosity, and the ability to turn technical subjects into clear, engaging stories
Good time management and reliability when working independently
Interest in cars, workshops or the motor trade is beneficial but not essential
Experience with website content management systems and email marketing tools, such as Mailchimp or MailerLite, is an advantage
What's on offer
