Interest surges for Outlander

Mitsubishi’s next-generation Outlander is now available for Kiwis to pre-order online following “a mountain of enquiries”.

This opportunity is the first of its kind from Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand (MMNZ) and follows the company’s record-breaking 2,116 sales in June.

“We are on an unprecedented winning streak and interest in the next generation Outlander, which was teased to the market late last year, has resulted in greater demand than expected,” says Reece Congdon, head of marketing and corporate affairs.

“We have received a mountain of enquiries and requests to pre-order. With interest so high and early shipments limited, we hope this helps avoid disappointment for those eager to experience the next generation of this SUV.”

Buyers need to pay a $500 deposit online to secure a new Outlander. The MMNZ team will then work with the customer’s preferred Mitsubishi dealer to complete the order. The deposit is fully refundable should the purchaser change his or her mind.

Built on an entirely new platform, the redesigned exterior hosts a wealth of interior and technology upgrades shared across three two-wheel-drive (2WD) and three 4WD models.

At $41,990 plus on-road costs, the five-seat entry-level 2WD LS’ standard features include the marque’s full advanced driver-assistance systems safety suite, wireless smartphone connectivity and embedded sat-nav.

The seven-seat XLS boasts suede and synthetic leather upholstery, leather steering wheel and shift knob, 20-inch alloys, and larger front and rear disc brakes. Extra features include wireless smartphone charging, triple-zone climate control and rain-sensing front wipers.

The premium VRX is kitted out with black – or grey for an extra for $1,000 – leather upholstery on all seven seats, with eight-way power adjustment and memory function for the driver and passenger.

Luxury appointments continue with a panoramic sunroof, kick tailgate, 12.3-inch digital driver display and Bose sound system, alongside more safety features such as a multi-around monitor with moving-object detection.

The next-generation Outlander is expected in New Zealand late 2021.
