Industry expert makes switch
ChargeNet, which operates the country’s biggest electric vehicle (EV) charging network, has announced Danusia Wypych as its chief executive officer.
She has a diverse background in key New Zealand industries, such as energy and transport sectors.
Wypych, pictured, was most recently head of new ventures and transformation with Transpower NZ where she led the delivery of innovation programmes.
Prior to this, she worked at Z Energy. She was its first sustainability manager and later spearheaded transformational projects over her eight years with the company.
Terry Allen, chairman of ChargeNet, says Wypych brings “unique dual experience” from the electricity and liquid-fuels sectors.
“We look forward to her leadership as we and the EV charging industry mature commercially. We’re excited at the prospect of her driving the expansion of our network, building customer-centric technologies and increasing our value proposition.”
Wypych adds: “It’s an honour to join a company leading the transition towards a net-zero carbon future. As Aotearoa progresses its transition towards electric mobility, it’s essential there’s a reliable, equitable and accessible EV charging network that meets the needs of the community and supports people easily in making the switch.”
She holds a BSc in chemistry and technology, an LLB specialising in environmental and international law from Victoria University of Wellington, and a graduate certificate in marketing from Monash University.
Wypych, who lives in Wellington, will continue to be based in the capital so she’s close to government stakeholders and will often commute to Auckland. ChargeNet says all emissions created by her travel requirements will be offset.
