Importing from Singapore

As part of dealing with the Takata airbag recall, VIA, (the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association), has contacted Singapore authorities to see if there is recall information publicly available for vehicles in the Singapore fleet.

Singapore's “One Motoring” site has a facility to check individual vehicles for their recall status.

For members importing vehicles from Singapore, VIA advises that you check prospective vehicles on this website prior to de-registration.

- If no recalls are outstanding: print off the results.

- If there are recalls outstanding: have these completed, then recheck the website and once cleared on the website, print the results.

These results will be required at compliance, and should also be provided to prospective purchasers.

Update

VIA, (the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association) has received feedback that de-registered vehicles are not found in the online LTA database.

If the vehicle has been de-registered, you will now need to ask the last registered owner to either:

- use the LTA feedback facility to enquire about the recall status, or

- phone the LTA hotline on 1800-CALL LTA (1800-2255 582).

The phone system will route their query to a staff member who will be able to advise on other ways to check the recall status.
