A pre-production model S6 e-tron Avant will be available for Kiwis to view and test drive for a limited time at Audi dealerships nationwide.

The roadshow, which will be at 11 locations, comes as the marque expands its range of full EVs with the launch of its first electric station wagon.

The left-hand-drive pre-production model has been brought to New Zealand for local evaluation and will not represent final specifications for this country.

Greg Leet, general manager of Audi NZ, says: “The A6 e-tron is the first purely electric Audi available as an Avant, which is the shape of some of our most iconic vehicles.

“The S model will bring another level of performance and prestige, which we know our customers expect from the brand.”

Built on Audi’s new premium platform electric (PPE), the upper mid-size vehicle carries through strengths in performance, range and charging as seen in the Q6 e-tron launched at the end of 2024.

The range will consist of two models starting with the A6 e-tron Avant, which will be available in two variants. The base model S line with 270kW and rear-wheel drive will offer a maximum range of 650km on the WLTP. The S line quattro offers a 315kW output with all-wheel drive.

The Audi S6 e-tron Avant provides a system output of 370kW – and 405kW with launch control – and can accelerate from 0-100kph in 3.9 seconds. Alongside a range of more than 623km on a full charge, this S model offers a more premium, sporty interior and exterior styling.

All models will reflect the interior design and technology as seen in the Q6 e-tron including the front passenger display screen.

Thanks to the 800-volt technology and a maximum DC charging output of 225kW as standard, quicker charging is available across the range. At a high-power charging station, up to 245km can be recharged in 10 minutes. The state of charge increases from 10-80 percent in 21 minutes.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but Audi expects the range to start at $144,990 excluding on-road costs.

The roadshow kicks off in Auckland at Giltrap Audi North Shore from May 23-26. It then heads to Giltrap Audi from May 28 to June 3 and Continental Cars Audi, Newmarket, from June 5-10.

Ebbett Hamilton is next up from June 13-17 followed by Farmer Audi in Tauranga from June 20-24, Bayswater in Napier from June 27-30 and Robertson Prestige in Palmerston North from July 4-6.

After Armstrong’s Audi in Wellington from July 9-13, the roadshows heads to Christchurch and Archibald's Audi from July 17-21. The final two destinations are Southern Motor Group in Dunedin from July 24-28, and Queenstown Motor Group from July 31 to August 4.
