Huge Triton delivery beckons

Mitsubishi Motors NZ says it has been prioritised for the delivery of 5,000 model-year 2022 Tritons before January 1.

“We are fully committed to supporting ute customers across the country,” says Daniel Cook, chief operating officer.

“We’re delighted to be in a position to meet the strong demand we’ve received for this vehicle with a huge delivery before the end of the year.

“More than half of our Triton customers work in infrastructure, trade or agriculture, so we are extremely pleased to be able to support them so robustly in the face of ongoing global supply issues and shipping delays.”

Cook also notes the price rises that will result from the government’s feebate scheme that kicks off in January and hopes “this will provide some peace of mind in challenging times”.

The new 2022 Triton range boasts a higher level of performance and safety technology, and higher than some of Mitsubishi’s competitors, according to Reece Congdon, head of marketing and corporate affairs.

“This is the best-equipped Triton we’ve ever introduced,” he enthuses. “The 2022 model offers a whole lot more for those who demand more.”

Forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rain-sensing front wipers, front fog lamps and light-sensing headlamps are standard in the GLX club cab and double-cab chassis base models through to the premium double-cab VRX with four-wheel-drive (4WD).

The GLX-R and VRX models have extra safety features, such as blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert and an ultrasonic mis-acceleration mitigation system, as well as front and rear-parking sensors and auto high beam.

The new GLX-Rs have the addition of Mitsubishi’s Super Select II 4WD system alongside off-road mode and hill-descent control.
Super Select II features four drive modes to enable high performance in a range of driving conditions, from fuel-efficient rear-wheel drive on dry, sealed roads to all-wheel drive for added traction in slippery conditions.

The centre diff can also be locked in high and low range for more challenging off-road driving, or when navigating steep inclines.

A new 2WD VRX Black Edition, pictured, features a leather-appointed interior with Mitsubishi’s all-black exterior styling.

“Our Black Edition 4WD model has proved hugely popular, so we are pleased to introduce the same distinctive sense of style to our 2WD range,” says Congdon.

This variant encompasses a black dynamic shield front design with these following items in black – the grille, bumper garnish and headlamp surround, 18-inch alloys, side steps, door mirrors and handles, tailgate garnish and rear-step bumper, and edition badging on each fender.

Cook adds: “With an unprecedented volume about to hit our shores in the coming quarter, now is the time for customers to secure an upgraded Triton before the feebate scheme hits in January.”
