Toyota NZ is returning to Fieldays in June and with a presence that solely features its Hilux.

The marque’s stand will be all things ute and have the latest models on display during the event at Mystery Creek, Hamilton, from June 14-17.

Andrew Davis, vice-president of marketing, says: “We are excited to be back at Fieldays to provide customers the opportunity to speak to us and check out the entire Hilux range.”

As well as around a dozen utes on display, the marque’s stand will have several “activations” including a Hilux quiz and competitions with prizes including a fishing trip with Matt Watson.

Steve Prangnell, Toyota NZ’s vice-president of new vehicles, says pretty much the full range of the new Hilux will be on show at Fieldays.

“Despite some delays in the past two years, we have plenty of good stock of Hilux and Toyota is at Fieldays to sell them,” he adds. “We’re keen to ensure we are selling the latest technology to our agricultural customers.”

Hilux buyers at the event will get an extra $1,500 of accessories and free servicing. There’s also a free tray offer for the SR 4WD Extra Cab Chassis.

Toyota NZ says it’s also committed to cutting and removing carbon-dioxide emissions from its operations.

To reduce energy-related emissions, its Fieldays stand will be powered by a hydrogen generator, which has arrived in New Zealand from a Toyota technology partnership in Europe.

The generator is essentially a large fuel cell, which converts hydrogen to electricity via a complex piece of technology and chemistry.

It was developed and built in Europe using Toyota fuel-cell technology, the same tech that sits in the Mirai car and Emirates Team NZ’s hydrogen-powered chase boat, Chase Zero. The hydrogen generators will be available for commercial use, such as at construction sites and events, from Toyota NZ.

In a move to further improve the sustainability of its stand, the company has partnered with Closed Loop, a Fieldays sustainability supplier that develops and provides recycling programmes.

The Hilux stand will participate in the Simply Cups initiative, which collects paper. It then turns used beverage and food cartons into sustainable low-carbon building materials, such as rigid air barriers, wallboards and roofing substrate.
