Holy cow! Cops pull over real-life Batman

It is perhaps no surprise that someone dressed up as Batman and driving along a road in a Batmobile might get pulled over by the police.

But rather than the officer apprehending the caped crusader because he was tearing along in hot pursuit of criminals, she simply wanted a photograph with the Dark Knight.

The incident happened in Ontario, Canada, when Stephen Lawrence was returning home to the city of Brampton after attending a car show in full costume.

Lawrence, also known as the Brampton Batman, has been portraying the superhero for more than 20 years after first donning the cape and cowl when he was a teenager because he felt a connection with the comic book character.

He said the 2018 video below came about after he had earlier asked the police officer to dissuade drivers from taking photos and videos of him while they were on the move, which he described as illegal and unsafe.

She agreed and he continued on his way in the Batmobile, which is street legal and built using a Chevrolet Caprice, before the officer’s police vehicle appeared behind him a short while later flashing its lights.

“I jumped out and asked if everything was okay,” said Lawrence, “and the officer said, ‘I would like to not miss my opportunity and get a photograph with you’.”
