Toyota ute on top as registrations for resurgent commercials market jump 31 per cent from a year ago.

There were 4,034 new commercials registered last month, an increase of 31 per cent when compared with 3,079 in July 2024. 

Toyota’s Hilux, pictured, was the best-selling model in July with 868 units, up 47.6 per cent from the 588 units it sold in the same month a year ago. 

Next was the Ford Ranger on 838 registrations, a year-on-year increase of 10.7 per from 757.

Nissan’s Navara was third with 416 sales, followed by the Mitsubishi Triton on 276 and BYD Shark 6 with 256. 

The Ranger leads the year-to-date standings with 5,225 registrations and a 22.8 per cent share of the market.

In second place is the Hilux on 4,961 and 21.7 per cent, and the Triton is third on 1,943 units and 8.5 per cent.

The market’s overall year-to-date total stands at 22,878 units.

On the marques’ ladder, Toyota was top in July with 1,160 registrations, up 49.5 per cent from 776 a year ago, and a market share of 28.8 per cent.

Ford was next on 928 units, which was up 7.9 per cent from 860 in July 2024, and Nissan was third on 416.

Toyota tops the year-to-date charts with 6,330 registrations and a market share of 27.7 per cent.

Ford is second with 5,913 and 25.8 per cent and Mitsubishi completes the top three on 1,944 and eight per cent.

Hiace top for used sector

As for used-imported commercials, the 334 units registered in July was down 31.3 per cent from 486 in the same month last year. This brings the year-to-date total to 2,345.

Toyota’s Hiace was the top model last month on 73 registrations and a market share of 21.9 per cent.

The Nissan NV350 and Hino Dutro were tied for second spot with 24 registrations each.

The Hiace is the leading model year to date with 729 sales and a 31.1 per cent market share, and Nissan’s NV350 is second on 172 units and 7.3 per cent.

Toyota was the top marque last month with 117 registrations, a 53.2 per cent decrease from 250 a year ago.

Next was Nissan with 74 units, Hino on 29, Ford with 27, and Isuzu on 21.

Year to date, Toyota has 1,011 registrations and a 43.1 per cent market share. Nissan is next on 451 and 19.2 per cent, with Hino third on 155 and 6.6 per cent.
