Hatch-only range arrives
The 2025 model-year Mazda3 has started to arrive in dealerships across the country.
It moves to a hatchback-only range for the new year with its exterior design and interior remaining unchanged.
With more than 33,000 joining New Zealand roads, the current generation continues to build on the success enjoyed by four generations and around 20 years on the local market.
The fourth iteration “takes Kodo design one step further, treating the car as a work of art”. The result is sophistication and elegance inspired by the central elements of Japanese aesthetics.
With clean lines and unique proportions, the sporty hatch conveys a sense of anticipation and energy that creates a strong emotional appeal.
The four-variant range starts with the two-litre Mazda3 Hatch GSX Skyactiv-G with a recommended retail from $54,490. Pricing includes GST but exclude on-roads.
Opening the range, the GSX continues its leading position offering “compelling” value along with high levels of technology and safety as well as equipment to accentuate comfort and convenience for driver and passengers.
A colour active-driving display is projected onto the windscreen with all important data for the driver and it is accompanied by a seven-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster.
Supplemented with cylinder deactivation technology, the two-litre Skyactiv-G petrol engine delivers 114kW of power and 200Nm of torque for fuel consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of 6.6l/100km and 153g/km respectively.
The SP25 restores a celebrated nameplate to the range. Superseding the GTX, it SkyactivG 2.5-litre petrol engine its output figures are 139kW and 252Nm, and achieves 7.3l/100km and 171l/km.
Generous 18-inch alloys finished in gloss black provide a striking impact, particularly when paired with gloss-black exterior mirrors and black exterior accents. Red stitching adds a dynamic highlight to the interior trim.
The Mazda3 Homura – with its electric glass sunroof and adaptive LED headlights joins the range in place of the Limited.
The luxurious interior features leather upholstery with heated and electrically adjustable seats, and a high-power Bose 12-speaker audio system.
The Homura also has a 360-degree view-monitor camera system to its “already generous” levels of standard equipment.
Headlining the 2025 Mazda3 range is the Takami, which continues to offer the innovative Skyactiv-X M Hybrid engine.
With its ability to burn petrol more efficiently thanks to its spark-controlled compression ignition, the Takami, which costs from $54,490, makes more power yet produces fewer emissions than a comparable petrol engine.
It returns 6.1l/100km and 150g/km while its headline outputs are rated at 132kW and 224Nm.
The Mazda3 Takami is available with an exclusive burgundy-red leather interior, which “provides an even greater sense of opulence” in the cabin.
All New Zealand-new models come standard with Mazdacare, which includes a five-year and unlimited mileage warranty along with roadside assistance.
There’s also genuine scheduled servicing of Mazda3s for the first five years and 100,000km at no extra cost.
