Rising demand at auctions

A 2023 Aston Martin was one of the top lots last month as a platform specialising in classic, performance and collectible cars passed 1,000 sold lots in the year-to-date.

Collecting Cars says its total number of auction sales across Australasia is 44 per cent higher than at the same stage of 2024.

Some 87 lots were sold through the website in November and fetched nearly A$7 million (about NZ$8m).

Sales highlights included a 2023 Aston Martin DBX 707, pictured, selling for A$300,000, a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback “Eleanor” making A$295,000 and a 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Club Sport goi9ng under the hammer for A$288,500.

Lee Hallett, head of Apac at Collecting Cars, says sales in Australia and New Zealand remain strong, even with Christmas approaching.

He notes the company is holding its final Coffee Run car show event for the year at the Auckland Showgrounds from 8am to noon on Sunday, December 7. Entry is free.
