MG Motor New Zealand says the all-new MG4 EV Urban will be touching down in late April with “value-led” pricing from $38,990 plus on-road costs.

The front-wheel-drive model boasts a 54kWh battery option that provides an all-electric range of more than 400km.

Dean Sheed, country business manager, says: “Designed for how Kiwis live today, the MG4 EV Urban has room for five adults and rapid DC-charging capability from 10-80 per cent in around 30 minutes.

“Whether you’re seeking an accessible EV to suit your lifestyle, or wanting to reduce your environmental footprint, it delivers the right combination of space, technology and efficiency.”

As demand for EVs expands across New Zealand, Sheed says the marque has listened to customers with the all-new MG4 EV Urban pairing compact exterior dimensions with a “surprisingly” spacious interior. Its layout provides “generous” rear-passenger room and its luggage capacity expands to about 1,300 litres with the back seats down.

As cost of living remains top of mind and petrol prices continue to fluctuate “faster than drivers can read the sign”, the fully electric SUV offers “greater cost certainty and freedom from fuel-price volatility”.

The MG4 EV Urban was also launched across the Tasman this month at the Melbourne Motor Show. The event also featured the debuts of the MGU9 EV and MGU9 Black Edition, and model-year 2026 MG4 EV family hatchback.

Making its first down-under appearance at the event was the MGS6 EV, a mid-size all-electric SUV. Positioned as a larger and more premium offering, it features a high-capacity battery delivering a range of up to 530km on the WLTP.
