Escape arrives in NZ

The Escape – Europe’s bestselling plug-in hybrid (PHEV) – is now available at Ford dealers across New Zealand.

It offers “surprising” performance from hybrid powertrains, the convenience of seamless connectivity and a range of driver-assistance systems.

The PHEV version boasts up to 69km of pure-electric driving and the full hybrid Escape Hybrid can clock up to 900km on a single tank of fuel. The ST-Line X models now have up to 2,100kg of towing ability.

The new model has evolved inside and out. The smart Titanium Hybrid, which is a fresh new offering to New Zealand, sporty ST-Line X Hybrid and ST-Line X PHEV have unique design features and distinctive personalities. A full-width LED light bar frames the front grille on the ST-Line Xs.

Inside, Ford’s latest-generation SYNC 4 infotainment offers twice the computing power of the previous system. It has 5G connectivity for fast access, cloud-connected navigation with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for cable-free access to key apps and information.

The next-generation adaptive cruise control can apply brakes automatically for curves, intersections and other traffic, while the 360-degree camera system offers an aerial view.

The Escape’s sliding second-row seats can boost legroom to more than one metre for rear occupants or create up to 150 litres of extra boot space.

Advanced lighting technology helps improve comfort and confidence for the driver, with full LED headlights, including automatic high-beam control, coming as standard on ST-Line X models.

The new Escape is built at Ford’s advanced Valencia plant in Spain where 3D printing of parts delivers highly accurate and sustainable manufacturing. Starting prices range from $59,990 to $72,990.
