End of line for GR Supra

Toyota will discontinue the current iteration of the GR Supra in New Zealand after six Track Editions have found owners.

Andrew Davis, chief strategic officer, says: “The Supra already had a cult following when the current generation launched in 2019 and the GR added new enthusiasts to what’s been an amazing sports car.

“While this chapter closes, its spirit will continue to live on at the circuit and in the hearts of fans. It’s pretty cool to acknowledge this latest iteration with some unique and collectible track editions.”

To date, Kiwis have purchased just over 100 GR Supras in various grades from the automatic transmission-equipped launch version to the upgraded Limited with manual transmission, which was added due to demand.

“The driving dynamics of the GR Supra also helped to raise the profile of our wider GR portfolio, helping to pave the way for other exciting models such as the GR Yaris, GR Corolla and GR 86,” says Davis.

Two Supra GT4 EVO entries will race in GT4 this summer and the GR Supra is also entering the Australian Supercars Championship in 2026 with a V8 variant.

Toyota will field a minimum of four GEN3 GR Supras in the Repco Supercars Championship. Two will be run by homologation team partner Walkinshaw Andretti United with Supercars drivers Chaz Mostert and Kiwi Ryan Wood behind the wheel. Potentially, two rounds of the series will be held in New Zealand next year.

The GR Supra Track Edition, meanwhile, represents the most focused version of the model with enhancements including motorsport-inspired suspension components and bracing.

Chassis reinforcement and a retuned suspension package, refined EPS and limited-slip differential control help to deliver a more direct response and greater composure through corners. A larger front brake package boosts consistency and pedal feel during repeated hard braking.

The GR Supra’s three-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine produces 285kW and 500Nm, with power delivered to the rear wheels with the assistance of a limited-slip differential.

The final six Track Editions will be available for sale later this year from $109,990. The marque’s driveaway pricing includes on-road costs, warrant of fitness, registration, a tank of fuel, the Toyota Care Service Advantage fixed-price servicing package, floor mats and a three-year or 100,000km warranty.
