Electric SUV given upgrade

Audi is making the Q4 e-tron more versatile with new features including a reimagined digital stage and intuitive controls.

Outside, the electric SUV now boasts a sharper design and new lighting features, while it also has increased range and greater charging capacity.

“While this is an upgrade, it feels more like an all-new model,” says Greg Leet, general manager of Audi NZ. “Not only is it more modern and striking in appearance, but it impresses with an all-new interior. New features and technological advances enhance its position as the electric entry point to the brand.”

Audi NZ is yet to confirm the model range line-up for the Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback. Customers are encouraged to register their interest online to receive information in coming months.

The Q4 e-tron is the first Audi to support bidirectional charging – its high-voltage battery can receive energy from the grid and feed it back to external devices. For example, the vehicle-to-load function allows e-bikes to be powered up from a socket in the boot or via an adapter on the charging port.

Thanks to an even more efficient electric motor, customers can have up to 592km of range based on the Q4 Sportback e-tron performance. Globally, both models are offered with two gross battery sizes – 63kWh and 82kWh.

In the Q4 SUV e-tron quattro performance and Sportback e-tron quattro performance, the maximum SUV charging capacity has increased by 10kW to 185kW. On longer journeys, this keeps charging stops brief. In some variants, the high-voltage battery charges from 10-80 per cent in about 27 minutes.

For the Q4 Sportback e-tron quattro performance, it’s possible to add 185km in 10 minutes, and the battery can be automatically or manually preconditioned for better charging performance.

The all-new interior is optionally available in the S line. The heart of the cabin is the digital stage –a panoramic display with an 11.9-inch instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch MMI touch display keeps everything in clear view. An optional 12-inch passenger display with a customisable standby design completes the set-up.

The intelligent Audi assistant controls vehicle functions via voice command and can answer questions about the logbook. Comfort and ambiance are enhanced by dynamic interaction lighting, a new centre console and two cooled inductive charging trays, each with 15 watts of power.

Audi has also taken the lighting to the next level. Up front, digital LED daytime running lights with segmented technology create digital-light signatures. Second-generation digital OLED rear lights improve safety and functionality. In addition, optional proximity lighting warns other road users when they get too close.
