Electric kei-class debut
Suzuki’s first electric passenger kei-class car, the e Sky, will be sold in Japan and the UK, and possibly in India and Europe.
It will enter the marque’s domestic market by the end of March 2027, where its competitors will include the Nissan Sakura, Mitsubishi ek X, Honda N-One e: and BYD’s Racco.
The production car is 3,395mm long, 1,475mm wide, 1,625mm tall and rides on a 2,460mm wheelbase. Its dimensions and power output are constrained to comply with kei-car regulations, which bring tax and registration benefits for buyers.
There’s an electric motor driving the front wheels, which should reach the class-standard 47kW. The e Sky weighs 1,030kg and has a 26kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Final range figures have yet to be announced, but Suzuki is focusing a range of 310km.
The cabin boasts a digital instrumentation display paired with a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. A traditional gear lever comes out of its dash and there’s a strip of capacitive controls for the air-conditioning system.
