Discover the ‘most reliable’ EVs

Kia’s EV6 has been crowned the most reliable electric vehicle (EV) in a report analysing data from hundreds of thousands of car owners.

The new-for-2022 model finished with a reliability score of 84 points and was followed Tesla’s Model 3 on 58 points, according to the study by Consumer Reports.

Next in the charts was the second-generation Nissan Leaf, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model Y with 53, 41 and 38 points, respectively.

Of the 11 EVs tested, the Chevrolet Bolt and Hyundai Kona Electric shared last place with a reliability score of just five points.

The survey looked at major malfunctions or issues with owned vehicles and some of main problems identified with EVs were associated with charging, electric drive motors and battery packs.

While the EV6, pictured, ranked best for reliability, Consumer Reports questions whether it will match the proven record of the Model 3 as it ages.
