Dealership turns to solar power

A Christchurch dealership has invested in renewable energy and installed 134 solar panels to help power all parts of its business, including vehicle sales, parts, service, and administration.

Ilam Toyota, based in the suburb of Riccarton and part of the Miles Group, has installed a 55kW system with production and consumption monitoring.

It says the new panels, which Solar Power NZ installed, will allow it to use more sustainable energy in the future and reduce its reliance on traditional power sources.

The dealership and the wider Miles Group say they are taking action to shape a better tomorrow in all facets of the business.

“Installing these solar panels is just one of the many steps we’re taking,” they add.

“We’re proud to have achieved the Toitū Enviromark Diamond Certification, which marks five years at this level and highlights our commitment to protecting our environment.”

To achieve and maintain this certification, the companies must implement and maintain programmes to address significant environmental aspects of their operations and ensure processes are in place to monitor these impacts.
